In June 2023, the World Economic Forum released the White Paper on Central Bank Digital Currency Global Interoperability Principles (hereinafter referred to as the White Paper). The White Paper studies central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and analyzes the priorities and lessons learned regarding CBDCs across different regions. It highlights various considerations, including monetary sovereignty, financial stability, geopolitical risks, de-dollarization, and infrastructure costs. In addition, the document proposes the establishment of principles for CBDC interoperability and offers recommendations for relevant participants. The Beijing Frontier Institute of Regulation and Supervision Technology provides excerpts from the main content of the White Paper for reference.
