On April 15, 2024, KPMG released The Roadmap to Open Finance in the UK (hereinafter referred to as "the Report"). The Report highlights that open banking has long been a key driver of innovation in the UK, with new legislation granting the industry the power to apply intelligent data to other areas of financial services. This provides a solid foundation for the development of open finance and is expected to generate significant economic and social benefits. The work of developing the open finance roadmap has only just begun. The Report aims to offer guidance for this process, outlining the necessary conditions to achieve an open finance economy, as well as various ongoing initiatives in areas such as payments, intelligent data, and digital identity. It proposes three distinct pathways to realize the open finance economy.
